Minori Sato
My name is Minori Sato. I was born and raised in Tokyo. Now I have been living in a shared house near Akihabara, famous for being the center of anime!
I have a mother, a father, a sister who is a freshman, and a dog. We have often traveled in Japan, especially we love going to hot springs, hiking, and skiing.
I am majoring in infrastructure at the university. I was interested in environmental problems such as climate crisis, deforestation, and abnormal natural disasters. However, when I started studying it, I realized that I wasn’t so interested. Rather, I am curious about sociology and education now.
In my free time, I practice Japanese calligraphy. I have worked on it for more than ten years. It makes me really concentrate on the practice, feel relaxed, and refreshed. I also like watching YouTube, especially cooking videos.
This year, I will do something special to broaden my horizon. I take a gap year and join the management of the shared house where I am living now. Moreover, I read a lot of books and study online to clear my interests.
In the future, I dream that I will go around the world to see and experience different cultures and values of senses. Especially I am keen on India, China, and Singapore, which are expected great economic growth and attract people.
I hope your challenge of taking a gap year is going well! I'd like to listen to experiences you'll have in the future.
ReplyDeleteIt is grate to try to join the management of a shared house. I have never lived in a shared house. How does it feel to live with many other people in daily lives? Is there any difficulties, or not?
ReplyDeleteI also think sociology and education are very interesting. So Maybe you want to be a teacher in the future?
ReplyDeleteI hope your gap year will be of great help to you. It's a big decision, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I really like lying on the hammock. Where did you take that picture?
I am impressed that you are very active; joining this program, trying to clear your interests, and taking a gap year to experience management!! Good luck and I was inspired, thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Minori, I am impressed that you have decided to have a gap year to do some reading in order to clarify what you passionately care about. From what I have heard such a step is quite uncommon in Japan, so kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteIt is a special thing to be able to study something that you care about and then go on to work in the same field.
David :-)
So am I, David. It is very impressive to me as well. It may be a much better decision under the pandemic. I hear that a student took a gap year because he did not make friends enough and he didn't to miss the opportunities in the university due to the virus. And he seemed to make a platform online for us to meet together. There is too much information to refer, but I think you will have a great and colorful life.
