Something I Have Learned Along the Way - Shogo Moro
Good life rhythm is very powerful. I've learned this lesson through preparation for the entrance exam of the University of Tokyo.
When I was a third-year student in high school, I often had to study at home due to the pandemic. Especially, I was not able to go to school from March to May, 2020. Thus, I had to manage a lot of time, and I knew how I would spend the time would make a difference.
As was referred to in our class, I knew working for hours would not necessarily bear fruit. However, I had not known how to improve the quality of my study, so I decided to spend more time studying as the first step. In order to do so, I wanted to eliminate wasted time. But there was a limitation, so next I decided to fix my sleeping schedule. Day after day, I made it a rule to wake up a little earlier. At last, I went to bed at 0 a.m. and woke up at 5 a.m.. Five hours were shorter than my original sleeping time, but I did not feel sleepy during the day. On the contrary, I was able to focus more than before. I studied almost all day long except for time to eat, but it was not so hard. Rather, it made me satisfied because I was able to absorb more knowledge and improve myself. I was happy to find myself develop day by day.
These days, I do not keep this habitat because I also like staying up late at night spending time as the mood strikes me. However, I know how to enhance my productivity when it is necessary now. This lesson must be useful when I want to do something with my full effort.
It's great that you worked so hard to prepare for the college admissions process!! I admire you because I am a night person and have a hard time getting up early in the every morning. I would like to get up early in the morning and be productive:)
ReplyDeleteI think you are a hard-working and respectable person. I am a night owl and I couldn't change this habit even though preparation for the entrance examination. I always had difficulty getting up early in the morning.
ReplyDeleteWow, you really can be a short sleeper...! I may not bear keeping such a short sleeping...I'm jealous..:)
ReplyDeleteWow, being able to work long hours on just 5 hours of sleep a night is quite an achievement. No doubt, sticking to routines helped you spend the time productively too. Your 'drive' to succeed and your preparedness to 'put in the hard yards' to make it happen are impressive. :-)
