Something I Have Learned Along the Way - Nanami Higashi
What I've learned so far is that, a thing which I worry about is just a worry, and doesn't cause any serious or scary problems just as I suppose.
I've learned it in many situations in my life. This English course at Otago university is one example.
Before the class start, I was worried a lot about this English course, because I am personally not good at online class in which I can't get the timing of speaking. Also, I hadn't had many opportunities of talking with others in English so far after entering university, so English-speaking itself was my worry.
However, after the class started, What I considered beforehand were just worries, and don't matter seriously. Classes are enjoyable, and even if I can't understand something well, the teacher and class members teach me in many ways. My decision of joining the class turned to be a right thing to do after all.
From this lesson "things I worry about rarely happen", I can get a feeling of relief and even get some confidence in trying new things. So, this finding is really important for me, and I make it a point to remember it every time I think too seriously.
Thank you for sharing the stories that we can relate to. There are so many things that scare me before I start, but when I try it, it's surprisingly fun. I believe that it is important to try everything.
ReplyDeleteIt was great to be in the same class as you, thanks for the two weeks♡
I'm with you. I sometimes feel depressed without particular reasons. Then, I realize that the cause is just worrying about something that has not yet to happen or did not happen in reality. I've learned in a book that we should live for the current moment. Since everything becomes a good experience afterwards, I'll try to focus on the current matter and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!! Actually, I have been inspired by you actively saying opinions and answers in both whole class room and breakout room. I have been encouraged to speak English as much as possible thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteDon't need to worry. If you have any difficulties, everyone around you is delighted to help you. And YOU helped me so much during this two-week class. Thank you so much :)
